May
23, 2008. Here is Michael's parting gift for
Maribeth, it is a garden named in her honor right outside her
bedroom window next to the gazebo. |
 |
To the left you will see the
second Gazebo. This is one faces the precious people of
Ndirande. At night the entire valley & mountain side is
flickering with camp fires and small lights. |
 |
May 23,
2008. Here our worker
is installing the glazed glass for Maribeth's suite on the
Girl's Dorm side of the orphanage. |
 |
May 23,
2008. This is the foundation area for the orphanage water
tank stand that will measure 10-12 feet high. It will me made
out of concrete columns. |
 |
May 19,
2008. This is one of the dorm rooms of the orphanage that
has been plastered and had the ceiling and electrical wires run.
These rooms are getting ready for the team coming in June and
eventually for the children to live there. |
 |
May 19,
2008. Here you can see the drain for the roof water as
well as the drain pipes coming out of the girls hostel (dorm
room). Those are the pieces of pipe the thieves tried to steal.

blog for more details) |

May 19,
2008. This is a rear view of the orphanage. You can see
all of the man hole covers (access points in case of clogs). The
wall you see is the children's laundry area. |

May 19, 2008.
You may not be excited
over this picture, but to us that have had to use the pit
latrine, it looks like a true 'porcelain throne.' This is the
first of the toilets to be installed at the orphanage. |

May 19, 2008.
Keeping with the
theme, this shows the septic tank and 'soak away' for the drain
fields. |
 |
April 27,
2008 - This is the lower round Gazeebo. This is on the front
corner near the Girls dorm room. as of the 30th it is nearly
completed. |
 |
This picture shows the gazebo
from above. It will tie in with and connect the front retaining
wall and the Rick Thomas Drain. The
Gazebo itself will have a thatch roof. There will also be
another gazebo on the opposite front corner of the building
facing out over the Ndirande mountain side. What a beautiful
view that will be! |
 |
This is a
small picture of the front drain. It has been concreted on the bottom
and the bricks on the side positioned. Next they will plaster it
completely.

This
shows how they are plastering the front rooms. They are applying
a smooth layer of concrete on the walls. This will allow them to
be painted. Once the plastering is done, they will add a ceiling
(wood) and then finish the electrical. |
