Maribeth's Garden at the Acts III Orphanage in Malawi May 23, 2008. Here is Michael's parting gift for Maribeth, it is a garden named in her honor right outside her bedroom window next to the gazebo.
Another view of Ndirande Mountain in Malawi from the orphanage. Click here for a larger image. To the left you will see the second Gazebo. This is one faces the precious people of Ndirande. At night the entire valley & mountain side is flickering with camp fires and small lights.
Glass glazing in Africa for the Malawi Orphanage on the suite for Maribeth Leineke May 23, 2008. Here our worker is installing the glazed glass for Maribeth's suite on the Girl's Dorm side of the orphanage.
Concrete columns for the orphanage water tank in Malawi Africa May 23, 2008. This is the foundation area for the orphanage water tank stand that will measure 10-12 feet high. It will me made out of concrete columns.

This is one of the dorm rooms of the orphanage that has been plastered and had the ceiling and electrical wires run. These rooms are getting ready for the team coming in June and eventually for the children to live there.

Here you can see the drain for the roof water as well as the drain pipes coming out of the girls hostel (dorm room). Those are the pieces of pipe the thieves tried to steal. (Read Michael's blog for more details)
orphange man hole covers and plumbing in Malawi africa. Clcik here for a larger picture of the orphanage drain lines May 19, 2008. This is a rear view of the orphanage. You can see all of the man hole covers (access points in case of clogs). The wall you see is the children's laundry area.
May 19, 2008. You may not be excited over this picture, but to us that have had to use the pit latrine, it looks like a true 'porcelain throne.' This is the first of the toilets to be installed at the orphanage.
May 19, 2008. Keeping with the theme, this shows the septic tank and 'soak away' for the drain fields.
Malawi Orphanage Gazebo

April 27, 2008 - This is the lower round Gazeebo. This is on the front corner near the Girls dorm room. as of the 30th it is nearly completed.

This picture shows the gazebo from above. It will tie in with and connect the front retaining wall and the  Rick Thomas Drain.

The Gazebo itself will have a thatch roof. There will also be another gazebo on the opposite front corner of the building facing out over the Ndirande mountain side. What a beautiful view that will be!

Larger drain picture of the Malawi africa orphanage

This is a small picture of the front drain. It has been concreted on the bottom and the bricks on the side positioned. Next they will plaster it completely.

This shows how they are plastering the front rooms. They are applying a smooth layer of concrete on the walls. This will allow them to be painted. Once the plastering is done, they will add a ceiling (wood) and then finish the electrical.
